The Stay Dry! Mississippi Coalition of Partners in Prevention was formed in 2009 through a U.S. Department of Education grant-supported campaign comprised of Mississippi State University, Mississippi University for Women, and the University of Mississippi, as well as Mississippians Advocating Against Underage Drinking (MAAUD) and Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD). Although grant funding has temporarily ended, these entities support two objectives:
During the grant, additional institutions of higher education and community colleges in Mississippi joined the campaign, including Alcorn State University, Delta State University, Jackson State University, Mississippi Valley State University, and the University of Southern Mississippi, as well as East Mississippi Community College, Holmes Community College, and Northeast Mississippi Community College. The Coalition continues to provide effective evidence-based strategies and best practices within a coordinated approach to focus on the causes of and issues surrounding underage drinking. The support, guidance, and strength of a state coalition provide a concerted effort to address problems and solutions to the issue of underage drinking.
